Today we are answering the question “How do I know if I need a termite treatment?”.

It can be difficult to determine if you need a termite treatment without the help of a professional pest control expert. However, there are a few signs that may indicate a termite infestation and the need for treatment:

  1. Presence of mud tubes: Termites use mud tubes to travel between their colony and the wood they are feeding on. If you notice mud tubes on the walls or foundation of your home, it may be a sign of a termite infestation.
  2. Wood damage: Termites feed on wood from the inside out, so it can be difficult to spot the damage until it is severe. However, if you notice small holes or tunnels in wood or hollow-sounding wood, it may be a sign of a termite infestation.
  3. Swarmers: Termite swarmers are winged termites that emerge from the colony to mate and start new colonies. If you see swarmers or their shed wings around your home, it may be a sign of a termite infestation.
  4. Frass: Termite droppings, also known as frass, can be found near termite infestations. Frass looks like small piles of wood-colored pellets.

If you notice any of these signs, it is recommended to contact a professional pest control expert to conduct a thorough inspection and determine if a Sentricon® termite treatment is necessary.
