Get to know Jay Besheer:


What are your favorite things about Kansas City? Easy place to live, no traffic, slower pace. I grew up in Waldo and went to Hale Cook, Bingham and Southwest High School and the University of Missouri. I made lifetime friends over the years growing up here and still pal around together.

What are your hobbies: I’ve been bowling with friends on the same team since I was 12 in 1967 in south Waldo at Ward Parkway Lanes.

What’s your favorite vacation you’ve ever been on? Trip to Italy with wife and two kids

Most unique experience at Gunter? I gave a last minute termite inspection for a customer on Christmas Day

Favorite insect: I don’t have one, but I’ve collected insect art like sculptures, prints and paintings for about 30 years

Favorite family tradition: cheese and cho

Oldest memory of working at Gunter? In 1963 when I was eight years old, I would ride around to customers houses with my grandfather on Saturdays when I was out of school and talk to the owners of the houses and tell them how I wanted to be a bug man just like my grandpa when I grew up.
